Existing Market
During the Amazon Whisperer assignment I found it difficult to think of a future product to offer. Since then I have come up with a couple of ideas. These include a partnering app that allows you to know the wait times at other entertainment ventures including theme parks, movie theaters, etc. Another idea is to apply the same concept to bathroom lines. As a women I strongly relate to this idea, waiting in lines in bathrooms is a pain in the butt.
Interviews:
Out of all the people I interviewed all preferred to be audio recorded.
For these interviews I happened to interview three women, all of which loved my business idea. When i mentioned other possible ideas they were all on board for the bathroom wait time app (I guess I am not the only one with a small bladder who hates waiting in lines). One of the best suggestions I received was to limit the data use and size of the app. One woman said that while she is sure she would use the app, if it were too big or took up too much data it would be the first to go when the storage full message popped up.
My future and the future of this venture has many different paths. Ideally after a successful income from this app the next step would be to develop others like it. According to the feedback I recieved from my interviews I could see the bathroom app being successful especially when applied in sports events, plays, and musical venues.
New Market
Currently I am targeting college kids and families, to target the complete opposite would be to look at the elderly or children. For this assignment I am going to focus on children because I believe that would be more fun! Having children wait in line is not the easiest of tasks. I believe that I could help this process by combining games with the wait time app. For instance each level corresponds with the time at which they have to wait. Or it could even have an informational basis. Each minute wait helps them learn about a new number or letter or fun fact.
Interveiews:
For the privacy of the children and respect for the parents I only used voice recordings for this assignment.
This was my favorite part of the assignment. Children are the most creative and entertaining interviewees. Their input was helpful however. The kids loved the idea of a fun game. They didn't want to wait in line anymore than adults do. While interviewing the children I also had a chance to speak to their parents. They recommended adding videos to the app for the kids to watch.
Other recommendations included coloring activities and an online menu so the kids could have a drink waiting for them at the table after they so patiently waited. This would also speed up with eating process as people would already know what they wanted to order before they even sat down.
Niamh,
ReplyDeleteYour idea is very interesting and different from all the others I have read about! This could definitely be a useful tool at large sporting events and concerts where people get impatient with bathroom lines. I do not know much about your app, but it may be useful to also locate where bathroom are based on GPS or something like that so not only would it post the wait time, it could tell you where the nearest restrooms are. So where are the recordings??
ReplyDeleteIncomplete!!!
Great job on the post, I thought your ideas are very interesting. Its always tough choosing what's next because it means you have to sacrifice or risk something to get to that spot. But I think your idea has a chance to survive. Check out my blog:http://entrepreneurshipwithq.blogspot.com/2016/04/whats-next.html
ReplyDeleteHey Niamh!
ReplyDeleteI really like your idea. I actually had a similar idea but couldn't really figure out how to make it work. I had some similar struggles as you while completing this exercise. It seems like you received a lot of positive feedback, which is great! I think next time you should be sure to include the recordings in your post. It was cool that you thought to reach out to kids who hate waiting in line just like adults. Our apps have kind of similar goals, we both want to fix the problem of long lines and waiting. Here is my post if you want to take a look: http://mariakongosfirstblogever.blogspot.com/2016/04/whats-next.html
Niamh,
ReplyDeleteWell hello! I loved your post and I checked out the rest of your blog you are doing great. I prefer audio recordings as well so I feel you on that. Also your idea is great in my opinion and can be very useful especially at big events. I would get your mobile application. Great job.
Here is a link to my blog! Check it out I hope you enjoy http://jbasta.blogspot.com/
Hi Niamh, I like your ideas and it seems that you've thought a lot about different ways that you can improve upon your product. That's very good, it shows that you have great critical thinking skills, which will definitely help you quite a lot as an entrepreneur. Personally, I like your idea about an app that would help you to know the wait times at entertainment venues such as a movie theatre or theme park. I'm just unsure about how an app would go about finding that information, but I'm sure that you will be able to find the perfect area of information for your app. Good luck, and keep going with your venture! Unfortunately, I missed this assignment so I can't provide a link to my blog post.
ReplyDeleteHey Niamh,
ReplyDeleteI think your idea could really be useful for big events. Your way of expanding your product was really interesting and creative. Time efficiency is really what you want to market to your consumers. I am having trouble finding your audio recordings, however you provided a lot of detail for the writing portion. Thank you for sharing!
